NWA Second Stage Transition is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3) status. This organization helps encourage transformation to individuals who are willing to break the bondage of abuse to find hope and take control of their lives. NWA Second Stage Transition seeks to strengthen linkages between clients and community-based resources to prevent the progression of abuse, addiction, and homelessness. NWA Second Stage Transition believes each person is created to be unique and valuable.
Assessments

Anger Management Assessment

Assessments help identify other areas to work on. Anger Management Assessment can be ordered by a judge, parole officer, probation officer, employer, family member, attorney, etc.

Substance Abuse Assessment

Our licensed therapists conduct mental health and substance abuse assessment evaluations. Also, provide emotional support to individuals, and conduct one-on-one sessions to overcome their dependency and become self-sufficient. The therapists work with the clients to help them heal from the trauma inflicted by addiction.

Resources Assistance/Referrals

Our resources assistance/referrals include assessing and evaluating the needs of clients (individuals, families, children, etc.), identify the services needed, and creating a goal plan to help them. For instance: we assist individuals/ families to get access to Medicaid, SNAP/TEA, housing rental/utilities, legal aid, social security Information/updates, Job opportunities, and job readiness awareness, inpatient treatment etc.

Counseling Classes / Groups

Anger Management Class

Individuals needing to attend anger management classes are encouraged to take the assessment first. Anger management Class can be ordered by a judge, parole officer, probation officer, employer, family member, attorney, etc. Purpose of the class: Has anger become a habit for you? How? 1. Learn to effectively manage anger 2. Stop the threat of violence 3. Improve self-control over thoughts and actions 4. Obtain positive support from others Anger Management Classes: 4 to 32 hours – based on the evaluation. Online classes are available.

Domestic Violence Class

Domestic Violence can be a single act or a repetition of behavior in relationships and could happen to anybody. It is present in every community, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status, religion, or nationality. Regardless of being a male or female, you must not remain silent. "Talk with a friend, family member, coworker, or neighbor about domestic violence". In-Person Class is available. - 8,12, 16 or 32-hours options.

Parenting Class

Our parenting class is designed to help parents obtain other skills needed to raise physically, psychologically, and emotionally healthy children. The class also helps increase the parent’s understanding of the child’s development. Parents are encouraged never to attempt to manipulate their child or become their best friend, as this will mask the reasons for the negative behavior they portray. Parents should seek help because it takes a community to raise a child. In-person/virtual available class hours; 8,12, 16, or 32. We also offer online classes. Support Group

Support group settings create a place where individuals or families are supported and encouraged to discover how to cope with the burden they are carrying and how they can progress with healthy treatment. For example, they will learn how to focus on sharing their experiences to help them face and work through personal problems and build and maintain healthy relationships. With a Support group, individuals or families will meet other people who are coping and want to share their stories in a safe setting. The Date/Time may vary

Financial Literacy Class (Adults/Youth)

Making a good financial decision includes inquiring knowledge, skills, and behaviors. Topics: Setting Goals Budgeting and Planning Avoiding Debt Traps Saving Spending Planning for Retirement

Mental Health Counseling

Our licensed mental health therapists provide a safe space for individuals to talk about their struggles. They also support those who experience mental and emotional distress by managing depression, stress, anxiety, self- esteem, anger, and relationships.

Substance Abuse Counseling

We provide emotional support to individuals to overcome their dependency and become self-sufficient. The therapists collaborate with the clients to help them heal from the trauma inflicted by addiction.

Life Skills

Life skills class serves as a source of motivation and inspiration to encourage individuals or families to navigate barriers that prevent success. The staff works with individuals and families to learn skills to understand decision- making, problem-solving, resume assistance, mock interviewing, and suiting options for job readiness.
